Turaath a new Group winner for Oasis Dream

The filly who had already recorded wins in England and Australia added the Gr.2 Let's Elope Stakes to her record at Flemington yesterday.

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 12th September 2021:

Turaath, a daughter of Oasis Dream bred by Shadwell Estate Company, had one win and one place from seven starts in Britain at two and three before being sold for 35,000gns at Tattersalls last December.

Sent to Australia, she joined the yard of Maddie Raymond and became the trainer’s first Gr.2 winner when landing yesterday’s Let’s Elope Stakes over 1400m at Flemington. Slowly away, she
had to race wide to keep a position just off the pace and gradually wore down the leaders to hit the front before the 200m mark. The pack closed on her, the entire 16-strong field finishing within six lengths, but she did enough to land the spoils by a length and a quarter.

The winner had finished placed on her first two starts in Australia before scoring at Sandown in July. Yesterday’s victory, her fourth in a row and first in Stakes company, makes her eligible for a A$1m bonus should she go on to win the Gr.1 Empire Rose Stakes at Flemington on Gr.1 Victoria Derby day.

Maddie Raymond commented: “She’s such a tough mare. She didn’t do it easy. She sat out wide with no cover and she was rock-hard fit and super competitive. She was super fit going into it. She’s such a tough, honest horse."
