Triple Time in the Ascendant

Frankel two-year-old Triple Time produced a strong performance on his blacktype debut to win the Listed Ascendant Stakes at Haydock on Saturday.

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 5th September 2021:

Just four lined up for the Listed Ascendant Stakes, the opening race at Haydock yesterday, including an odds-on favourite, but it
was the second favourite Triple Time who made all and won well.

The son of Frankel dictated a steady pace in the one mile contest and Hafit threw down his challenge passing the three furlong marker. Triple Time kept finding more, however, and ran on to score by a length and a half. Dukebox came home third, three and a quarter lengths behind Hafit.

This was the fourth start for Triple Time, who had finished placed on his first two and won by over nine lengths on his third. He is entered in the Gr.2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes and Gr.2 Beresford Stakes, but trainer Kevin Ryan hinted that he might take his time with the colt.

Ryan said: “He is a home-bred horse of Sheikh Mohammed Obaid’s. In the spring we thought he was very special. He has taken racing to really learn the job. He was very impressive today. We were very worried about the ground; it is very fast out there.”

Asked about a potential run in the Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket later this month, Ryan added: “I will have to have a word with Sheikh Mohammed Obaid about that and discuss it. He has done everything we have needed to do this year.”
