Tabiti prevails in the Dick Poole Stakes
Two-year-old Kingman homebred Tabiti made her Group-level breakthrough with a win in the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes at Salisbury on Friday (13th September).

Ralph Beckett was convinced that Tabiti had the speed for six furlongs and he was proved spot-on as the Juddmonte homebred mastered her first stern test in Friday's Gr.3 Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes at Salisbury. Impressive on debut over seven furlongs at Newmarket last month, the half-sister to the Gr.2 Linlithgow Stakes winner Old Flame was in front for the first two furlongs under Rossa Ryan before being headed by the slicker Magic Mild. Never out of a prominent position, the 11-4 second favourite stayed on best to regain the initiative 100 yards out and beat Miss Fascinator by half a length.
"We dropped back to six because the race fitted before the Rockfel rather than actually wanting to - it wouldn't have suited her and neither would the tacky ground, so she has won against the curve really," Beckett said. "Rossa said she didn't enjoy the ground at all and was in front long enough, but she got into a good rhythm. She's a smart filly and she's shown she's a good filly by winning that, but I hope we can go on to even bigger things. She's in the [Gr.2] Rockfel in a couple of weeks, so we will see how she comes out of this. We will aim high and I hope she will progress into a really nice filly at a mile next year."
