Sacred Bridge back on track with a Listed win

Bated Breath's Sacred Bridge added some more blacktype to her page, battling her way to a win in the Listed Polonia Stakes at  Cork on Friday evening (6th May).

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 7th May 2022:

Scared Bridge had shown good juvenile form last season, winning her debut at Naas and backing up in the Listed Tipperary Stakes. She added the Ballyhane Stakes and remained unbeaten in the Gr.3 Round Tower Stakes.

Having finished fourth in the seven furlong Gr.3 Priory Belle 1,000 Guineas Trial Stakes, she returned to sprinting trips at Cork, taking out the five and a half furlong Listed Polonia Stakes. The Ger Lyons-trained daughter of Bated Breath showed plenty of pace to be amongst the front runners. She travelled well into the final two furlongs, but Ladies Church, Elliptic, Saliteh and Brostaigh all came with a challenge and formed a line of five across the track. Sacred Bridge just found that little bit extra in the dying strides, however, to win by a neck and a half a length.

The Juddmonte homebred, who is entered in the Gr.1 Commonwealth Cup, is a full sister to the Gr.1 Matriarch Stakes winner Viadera, and a half-sister to the dual Listed winner and Gr.2 Prix Eugène Adam-placed Crossed Baton (Dansili). They are out of the dual winner Sacred Shield, a half-sister to the Listed-winning dam of the triple Gr.1 winner and sire Twice Over (Observatory). This is the family of Gr.1 winners Timepiece (Zamindar) and Passage Of Time (Dansili) and the sire Time Test.
