The Aga Khan-bred Frankel filly Darkaniya took the Listed Prix de la Pepiniere at Chantilly yesterday to record her first blacktype success.
Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 11th July 2023:
Darkaniya made a winning Clairefontaine debut last July and added a 10 furlong handicap win on 19th June this year at Saint-Cloud last time out.
Patiently ridden with just one rival behind through the early stages, but within range throughout, she made relentless headway in the straight to go second approaching the furlong pole and was driven out to collar Mqse De Sevigne by a pixel on the line for a career high.
Darkaniya is the seventh of nine foals and one of five winners from as many runners produced by Gr.1 Hong Kong Vase victrix and Gr.1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud third Daryakana. The February-foaled homebred, whose dam is a daughter of Gr.1 Prix de Diane and Gr.1 Prix Vermeille heroine Daryaba, is a half-sister to Gr.1 Prix Ganay-winning sire Dariyan and Gr.2 Knickerbocker Stakes and Gr.3 Monmouth Stakes winner Devamani. She is also kin to stakes-winning Gr.3 Prix Fille de l'Air third Dariyza and Listed Grand Prix de Clairefontaine victor Darabad.
