New stakes winner for Kingman
Three-year-old Kingman filly Victory Queen secured the biggest win of her career to date in yesterday’s Listed Prix de Liancourt at ParisLongchamp.
Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 5th September 2025:
Breaking from stall ten, Charlie Appleby’s raider had no option but to race wide, given where she was drawn (stall nine) in the 2100m contest. Despite the less than ideal track position, William Buick had his mount primed to challenge rounding the turn for home. It did not take his filly long to reach full stride once asked to quicken and she hit the front 300 metres out. Fellow British raider Revoir chased her all the way to the line, only going down by three quarters of a length, having come from the rear of the field. It was a further three lengths back to the Mohaather filly Merveilleux Lapin.
Unraced at two, Victory Queen made a winning debut at Newmarket earlier this year and followed that up with another short-margin success at Ascot two weeks later. Having not been seen for a few months since those two wins, she contested the Listed Distaff at Sandown and the Listed Lyric Fillies’ Stakes at York and came home fourth on both occasions. This was a first Stakes success for her and it will be no surprise if she continues to step up in Grade.
