Nashwa makes her stakes breakthrough

Three-year-old Frankel filly Nashwa took the step up to Listed level with ease, winning the Fillies' Trial Stakes at Newbury on Saturday (14th May).

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 15th May 2022:

Owner Imad Alsagar evidently holds his Frankel filly Nashwa in high regard, as she has entries in the Gr.1 Oaks, Gr.1 Coronation Stakes and Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and she took her record to two out of three in yesterday’s Listed Fillies’ Trial Stakes at Newbury.

Drawn on the outside of the seven runners, she was dropped out at the back and raced comfortably off the sensible pace. Pulled out for her run by Hollie Doyle, she drew alongside the back of the pack at the three-furlong marker, took the lead a furlong later and held on under a hands and heels ride to win by
a length and three quarters.

Bred by Imad Al Sagar’s Blue Diamond Stud Farm, which bought her dam Princess Loulou (Pivotal) for 300,000gns at Tattersalls as an eight-year-old, Nashwa is a half-sister to the triple winner Louganini, who is now in Saudi Arabia. Princess Loulou was a Listed winner over one mile two furlongs at Doncaster and is a half-sister to the Listed-winning and Gr.2-placed sprinter Watching and to the grandam of the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes winner Awzaan.
