Meydan Group win for Oasis Dream's Marbaan
Marbaan, who was already a Group winner in the UK, has added a win in the Gr.2 Al Fahidi Fort at Meydan to his record on Friday 24th January.
Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 25th January 2025:
The Gr.2 Al Fahidi Fort, run over 1400m at Meydan on Friday, was won by Michael Costa’s Marbaan (Oasis Dream) under James McDonald. The five-year-old entire, who runs in the colours of Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, settled behind the leaders in the early stages, before making his challenge down the centre between runners and finishing strongly inside the final 100m to pick up Mysterious Night to win by a length. Make Me King was a further length back in third.
A winner of the Gr.2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood as a two-year-old, Marbaan put up some good performances in defeat after that, which included finishing runner-up in the Listed Cathedral Stakes and third in the Gr.2 Lennox Stakes. Last year he moved to Michael Costa’s yard and finished second in both the Gr.2 Zabeel Mile and the Listed President Cup. He is a half-brother to the Gr.3 Ballycorus Stakes winner Convergence out of the Nayef mare Zahoo, who is a half-sister to the Gr.1 Al Maktoum Challenge winner Matterhorn and the Gr.2 winners Bangkok and The Foxes. This is the further family of the Gr.1 Irish 1,000 Guineas winner and Champion Three-Year-Old Mehthaaf.
