Meydaan a new Listed winner for Frankel
Three-year-old Frankel colt Meydaan had his first blacktype success on Saturday (25th May) with a win in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood.
Taken from the Thoroughbred Daily News and Racing Post, 26th May 2024:
Meydaan was returning to the track quickly after placing in the Epsom Classic prep, the Listed Lingfield Derby Trial last time out. Meydaan was unfazed by the short gap as he registered a first blacktype win in a contest packed with unexposed Royal Ascot hopefuls. Fresh and keen early anchored behind the leading pair, the homebred was all power as he strode to the front passing two out but needed the line as Space Legend lunged late.
Trainer Simon Crisford commented: "Meydaan has been learning his trade as he's gone along this season and he deserved to get his head in front. He was in front soon enough and was looking around a bit but saw out the trip well. He has options at Royal Ascot, including the Queen's Vase, and we'll have a chat with connections."
Meydaan's dam is the Gr.1 Pretty Polly Stakes heroine Nezwaah, a daughter of the Listed Pinnacle Stakes winner Ferdoos and granddaughter of the Listed-placed Blaze Of Colour.
