Magical Hope a new stakes winner for Frankel
Godolphin homebred Frankel filly, Magical Hope, secured her first blacktype win in the Listed Baden-Baden Cup yesterday.

It was a successful cross-border raid for Henri-Alex Pantall as he sent out the winner of yesterday’s 1800m Listed Baden-Baden Cup, Magical Hope, who clinched her first blacktype victory by a head. The daughter of Frankel raced in mid-division before being asked to quicken as the field turned for home. She saw off the fellow French-trained Bubble Sign, the charge of Mikel Delzangles, and left Sarah Steinberg’s New York City, who arrived with two Gr.3-placed efforts to her name, three quarters of a length further back in third.
This was a debut outing at Stakes level for the three-year-old, who had raced on only three previous occasions. Starting her career under the tutelage of Charlie Appleby, she finished second-last on her debut at Chelmsford, before going unbeaten from two starts after a move across the Channel. A Godolphin homebred, the filly, who holds a number of upcoming entries, though none at Group or Listed level, is out of the Listed victrix and Gr.3 Prix Belle de Nuit-placed Magical Touch. The second dam Criticism won twice at Gr.1 level and came home runner-up in the Gr.1 Flower Bowl Stakes, while her third dam Innuendo secured the Gr.2 Orchid Handicap at Gulfstream Park
