Labeling a new Japanese stakes winner for Frankel
The 1400m Listed Shinetsu Stakes was won by the four-year-old Frankel colt Labeling under Genki Maruyama at Niigata in the colours of Big Red Farm yesterday.
Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 15th October 2024:
As the 18-runner field turned for home, Labeling showed some of his sire’s customary traits with a turn of foot to pull away from the field, winning comfortably by a length and three quarters. This was his first Listed win, although he did finish third in the
Gr.1 Futurity Stakes at Hanshin back in December 2022, on his second start.
Bred by Sir Nicholas and Lady Nugent, he was a €360,000 foal purchase at Goffs November Foal Sale by Oneliner. Reoffered at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, he was knocked down to Dermot Farrington for 300,000gns. Roger Marley’s Church Farm and Horse Park Stud brought him to Dubai for the Goffs Breeze-Up Sale where he was picked up by his current owners with Hirokazu Okada for €520,638.
