Kingman's Noble Style on top at York

Kingman 2YO Noble Style won a competitive renewal of the Gr.2 Gimcrack Stakes at York today going away.

Godolphin's 525,000gns Tattersalls October Book 1 acquisition Noble Style earned TDN 'Rising Star' status when debuting with elan over five furlongs at Ascot in May and was upped to six for his next race at Newmarket on 29th July.

Sent postward at 3-1 for a stellar renewal of the Gr.2 Gimcrack Stakes, he produced a display of raw power and claimed his first blacktype in the six furlong contest. Finding a modicum of cover in the rear after breaking from the stand's-side stall, he made eye-catching headway from halfway before quickening smartly to go second approaching the final furlong and kept on powerfully in the closing stages to deny Marshman by a length and a quarter nearing the line.

"I'm very lucky to be able to make the call and give this horse the time that was needed," revealed Charlie Appleby. "We were very happy with how he came out of Newmarket and, physically, you could see how much improvement there was there. He galloped earlier in the week and looked as good as we've ever seen him. We came here with confidence , but there was plenty of strength in depth in the race today. He had to go and do it and he did it well."

He added: "I suppose the [Gr.1] National Stakes can be put in the melting pot , but he might be able to do it again over six in the [Gr.1] Middle Park. I see no reason why he won't stay a mile, he's got pedigree that suggests that he'll get it for sure and he does it all very nicely."
