Kingman one-two in Group 3 Prix Chloe

Blush continued a magnificent weekend for her sire Kingman with a narrow victory over fellow-KIngman filly Skellet in the 1800m Gr.3 Prix Chloe at Chantilly yesterday (14th July).

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 15th July:

A Group double at Ascot and York the day before helped the Juddmonte sire reach the half-century mark in terms of individual Pattern race winners, and it would take less than 24 hours for him to advance his score again. He added polish to this latest success by also supplying the runner-up, Ralph Beckett’s Skellet.

Blush’s owners, the Wertheimer Brothers,  had celebrated a four-timer at Longchamp the evening before, highlighted by wins for Sosie in the Gr.1 Grand Prix de Paris and Double Major in the Gr.2 Prix Maurice de Nieuil, to make it a Bastille weekend to remember for the billionaire businessmen. Trained by Carlos Laffon-Parias and partnered by Maxime Guyon, she was ridden with restraint early on as St Elvira worked her way to the front and led the eight three-year-old fillies. The complexion of the race changed when Some Skye went on inside the final 400m, just as Ci Mer was keeping Skellet in a pocket in behind.

Eventually the British raider found some racing room and she might have momentarily struck the front, but Blush had been building considerable momentum down the outer and proved just the stronger at the finish. She crossed the line a head to the good, with another three quarters of a length back to Love Rush in third.
