Kingman filly is new Tattersalls July record top lot
Orchid Bouquet, a three-year-old full sister to Gr.2 Coventry Stakes winner Calyx (Kingman) became the most expensive horse to sell at Tattersalls July Sale yesterday, making 550,000gns.
Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 10th July 2025:
Grant Pritchard-Gordon of Badgers Bloodstock struck for the filly, outbidding a competitive online buyer at 550,000gns to narrowly surpass the previous sale record of 540,000gns set by Rihaam (Dansili) in 2022.
The unraced daughter of Kingman is a typically well-bred Juddmonte product, in her case as a full-sister to the Gr.2 Coventry Stakes winner Calyx, subsequently a popular sire for Coolmore prior to his death in May. Their dam Helleborine (Observatory) won the Gr.3 Prix d’Aumale and ran second in the 2010 Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac for Criquette Head, and is a full-sister to the Gr.1-winning sprinter African Rose, from the Juddmonte Populi family also responsible for top two-year-olds and sires Native Trail and Distant Music.
