Group 1 one-two for Frankel

A head to head in the Gr.1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot saw Frankel colt Triple Time prevail over Inspiral (also by Frankel) today.

Royal Ascot began with a one-two for Frankel, but it was 33-1 shot Triple Time who prevailed over Inspiral in a thrilling finale in the Gr.1 Queen Anne Stakes. Both were having their seasonal debuts, but Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoun's homebred son of sensational broodmare Reem Three was on the front foot early and kept finding late to deny Inspiral by a neck.

Winning jockey Neil Callan said: "Kevin [Ryan] gave me so much confidence, as he said he was the best horse he's ever trained."

Kevin Ryan added: "It's not a surprise to us, as we've always had a lot of faith in him. Sheikh Mohammed Obaid has been very patient and he's only had one ordinary run in France in October on deep ground. Now hopefully we will have a full season with him. He=s got a massive stride and he's not the type that you can break the stride of. He's very tough. We had a plan in our head and Neil carried it out to a tee."

Triple Time became Frankel's 29th Group 1 winner and his 22nd individual stakes winner of 2023.
