Great returns for the Juddmonte stallions at Book 1
A robust renewal of the Tattersalls October Book 1 Sale saw progeny for all of the Juddmonte stallions make strong returns for their consignors.
Frankel led the way for the Juddmonte stallions with an average of 373,438gns for 16 yearlings sold. Highlights included a stunning colt out of stakes winner Qushchi, dam of Group horse Mrs Sippy. The colt who made 925,000gns was purchased by M. V. Magnier on day two of the sale. Another colt, lot 390, from leading sale consignor Newsells Park Stud was bought by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock on behalf of Godolphin. He is the third foal out of Good As Gold, a half-sister to dual Group winner Eminent (Frankel). Godolphin also acquired a Frankel colt, bred by Bobby Flay, out of Auld Alliance. The Kirtlington Stud-consigned colt reached 625,000gns.
Kingman progeny were also in demand with 30 changing hands for an average of 284,633gns. His highest-priced lot was a colt sold by Corduff Stud with M. V. Magnier eventually prevailing to secure him for 1.1 million gns. Kingman had five lots break the 500,000gns barrier.
2021 has seen Expert Eye's first yearlings offered at public auction. For the three sold at Book 1 he achieved an average of 165,000gns, over eight times the fee that they were conceived at. His highest-priced yearling was a half-sister to Group winners Burnt Sugar and Brown Sugar from the family of Gr.2 Mill Reef Stakes winner Galeota who made 290,000gns.
Bated Breath had two yearlings sell for an average of 180,000gns. A full sister to Gr.3 winner Simply Breathless was snapped up by Stephen Hillen on the final day of Book 1 and a racy half-brother to stakes winner Stylistique was secured for 130,000gns by Roger Varian.
Oasis Dream also had a very solid sale with nine lots selling for an average of 165,556gns. Loughtown Stud consigned the two highest-priced Oasis Dream yearlings. Lot 291, a full sister to Gr.2 winner Aktabantay and half-sister to Gr.3 winner Reina Madre, topped the list when she sold to agent Liz Crow for 420,000gns. An Oasis Dream colt out of Australian Group winner Brom Felinity, also consigned by Loughtown Stud, was purchased by the Hong Kong Jockey Club for 255,000gns.
