Frankel filly lands the Gr.3 Munster Oaks

Cork staged one of its feature fixtures on Friday evening, highlighted by the 12 furlong Gr.3 Munster Oaks which was won by the Frankel filly Magical Hope, making her second start for Paddy Twomey.

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 14th June 2025:

Partnered by man of the moment Colin Keane, the four-year-old broke well and made her way to the front with about six lengths covering the ten-runner field. She quickened at the two furlong pole and kept on well to win by two and a quarter lengths from Lemsairbat (Bated Breath), who pipped Enfranchise to second by a nose. Soft Winds was last but one turning for home but made up a lot of ground quickly before fading slightly into fourth.

Bred by Godolphin, Magical Hope ran once for Charlie Appleby before switching to Henri-Alex Pantall for whom she won her first three starts, culminating in the 1800m Listed Baden-Baden Cup. She was sold for €500,000 at the Arqana Breeding Stock Sale at
the end of the season and, sent to Twomey, was third in the Listed Orby Stakes on her first start for the yard three weeks ago.

She is the only foal out of the Dubawi mare Magical Touch, winner of a German Listed race and third in the Gr.3 Prix Belle de Nuit. The second dam Criticism won multiple Graded Stakes races in the US, as well as a Listed contest in France, and also produced the Listed Amethyst Stakes winner and Gr.3 Jersey Stakes-placed Chicago Critic.
