Frankel filly currently leading Goffs November Sale

A Frankel filly of rare and distinguished lineage emerged as the star turn at this year’s Goffs November Foal Sale yesterday when bought by Juddmonte for €550,000.

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 18th November 2021:

The filly headed a day which played host to some strong trade and yielded 36 six-figure transactions. The publication of the catalogue for this year’s sale revealed a
rare gem in the shape of the sale-topping Frankel filly, who was consigned by the Grassick family’s Newtown Stud on behalf of her breeders Heiko Bischoff and Niko Lafrentz of Gestüt Görlsdorf.

Not only is the most attractive chesnut a daughter of one of the world’s outstanding sires but she is also a half-sister to three winners, headed by the stunning Gr.1 Deutsches Derby hero Sea The Moon, who has made a notable impact since taking up stallion duties at Lanwades Stud. Further back this is a family littered with readily identifiable German champions such as the Gr.1 Deutsches Derby-winning stallion pair of Schiaparelli and Samum.

For good measure this filly’s two-year-old half-sister Sea The Sky recently made a winning debut in France for André Fabre.

“Obviously she’s by Frankel, who’s had a phenomenal year and looks like he’ll be champion sire this year, and she’s a beautiful filly from an outstanding family. We’re delighted to have her. It’s not often that a filly like this comes to the market. We were keen to have her and hopefully one day she’ll join the broodmare band,” declared Barry Mahon.
