Frankel 3YOs make a great start to the season

The last fortnight has seen four winners from Frankel's 2018 crop, three of which were debutantes, and included Sibila Spain who has been flagged as a TDN Rising Star.

Integrant and Mostahdaf were the first to strike on 16th March. Integrant, the second foal of Group 3 performer Via Manzoni registered a three length winning margin on his debut in a maiden race at Chantilly. Shadwell homebred Mostahdaf,  also racing for the first time, was equally impressive at Newcastle leaving his nearest challenger with a four and a half length deficit at the line.

Mohaafeth, another Shadwell runner, had previously placed towards the end of his two-year-old season. That early promise was confirmed when he ran out a winner at Lingfield on 19th March. Bred by Normandie Stud, Mohaafeth was purchased as a yearling at Tattersalls October Book 1 for 350,000gns.

Sibila Spain's debut yesterday (25th March) at Saint-Cloud was undoubtedly the most striking with a nine length winning margin. This performance earned her TDN's Rising Star Status. Her trainer, Christopher Head commented: "She came to me 2nd February and doesn't have too much work behind her, so she's certainly not 100% yet and has a lot to learn, so I will try to improve her with every run. It wasn't the plan to go to the front, but after she broke so well [jockey] Aurelien said she was very comfortable with her ears pricked so it was best to go on. She proved clearly the best in the race and although I have an idea where she will run next, I will talk her to owner first."
