Faiyum in command at Gowran Park

Strongly-supported for Saturday's Gr.3 Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes at Gowran, Faiyum (Frankel) showed why with an all-the-way demolition job.

Always in control with Colin Keane keeping it simple on the 5-6 favourite, the homebred drew away in the straight to record a seven-length success from Higher Leaves. Trainer Ger Lyons revealed that the winner, who had been second to the subsequent Blandford winner Barnavara when last seen in the Gr.3 Jannah Rose Stakes at Naas in June, may be put away for a four-year-old campaign now.

"This was the aim and we've done it - I'm not in any rush with her, because we've been patient," he said. "We'll see if something presents itself between now and the end of the season, I'm just not sure there is anything over 10 furlongs."

"Once we talk to Barry [Mahon] and the team, I have no problem waiting with her until next year and having a proper campaign on soft ground. "She's not in the Fillies & Mares and that's a mile-and-a-half, so I'm not doing that," he added. "She's a lovely filly. She's twice the filly there than the one you saw winning earlier on in the year and finishing second to Barnavara. We just said that this one needs heavy ground and she grows a leg on it, so we'll wait and be patient."
