€900,000 Frankel yearling at Goffs Orby

American trainer Ken McPeek went to €900,000 to secure a Frankel colt out of Belesta on the second day of Goffs Orby Sale.

The Marlhill Stud- consigned colt is a full brother to juvenile Group performer Old Glory and comes from the family of Gr.1 winners With You, We Are and Call The Wind (also by Frankel).

McPeek commented: “I’m very lucky to have a really great group of owners. I reached out to a few today and we have Peter Callahan, owner of Swiss Skydiver, and Fern Circle Stables partnering on this colt. We may bring in a few others. He is a pretty obvious horse. My wife and I walked through the group and he was a ‘wow’ horse. He’s a beautiful horse.”

He added: “He’ll ship to the US and be pre-trained in Florida. We won’t push him. He looks like he could take to the dirt, but we’ll see. I suspect he’ll be a two-turn horse. He’s the type of horse who could play at an extremely high level. We don’t get many Galileos or Frankels in the US and this will be my first Frankel. If he does end up playing at a high level then he’s a stallion prospect.”

Frankel was also responsible for the highest-priced filly to sell at the Orby Sale yesterday. Lot 254 is a half-sister to Gr.2 winner Creggs Pipes. She was bought by Al Shiraa'aa Farm who own Gr.2 winning Frankel filly Rumi.
