Frankel colt Dreamflight made a smart seasonal debut in the Listed Prix Omnium II at Saint-Cloud on Saturday. The André Fabre-trained colt holds entries to the 2022 Gr.1, Poule d'Essai des Poulains, Prix du Jockey Club and Grand Prix de Paris.
Taken from the European Bloodstock News and Jour de Galop, 20th March 2022:
The Listed Prix Omnium II for colts and geldings looked a competitive affair and, at the end of the 1600m, not much more than four lengths covered all nine runners.
The André Fabre-trained winner Dreamflight had only one behind him turning for home when pulled out for a run, and he came with a steady but sustained charge over the last 400m to win by a neck. He was followed all the way by Valmer Magic, who had raced in last position early on, while holding on for third was the race leader My Fancy, who was only half a length further back.
Yet another 2022 Stakes winner by Frankel, Lady Bamford’s homebred Dreamflight had broken his maiden in October’s Gr.3 Prix Thomas Bryon before ending his first campaign unplaced in the Gr.1 Critérium de Saint-Cloud. He is entered in both French Classics, as well as the Gr.1 Grand Prix du Paris over a longer trip of 2400m.
His dam Dream Peace (Dansili) won the Gr.2 Prix de la Nonette over 2000m and ended her racing career with Chad Brown, finishing a head second in the 2013 Gr.1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga. She has produced three previous foals, all winners and including the Listed-placed duo Questionare (Galileo) and Herman Hesse
(Frankel).
Lady Bamford's Bloodstock manager Charlie Gordon-Watson commented: "It’s a nice surprise to see him impose himself from the outset: he will progress a lot from this outing and will be better on good ground. Olivier Peslier gave him a perfect ride and he just kept going until the end. It’s really great and it’s exciting for Lady Bamford to start the year as well! André Fabre will decide the rest of his programme, but the Prix La Force could be an option."
He continued: "Dreamflight is a medium-sized foal, but very well made, very compact. The mother has a pretty yearling by Sea the Stars and a very beautiful two-year-old by Frankel.
