Big Five becomes Frankel's 100th stakes horse

Frankel chalked up five winners yesterday (5th April) with Big Five heading the list after a win in the Listed Prix Right Royal at Chantilly.

Big Five, who has won all five of his starts, became Frankel's 100th blacktype performer with the win. Initially settled well off the pace he made up ground in the straight to take the lead a furlong out, striding clear to win by an impressive five and a half lengths.

Baratti, a full brother to Group winner Finche, was making his debut at the Chantilly meeting. Despite his saddle slipping in the home turn he lengthened impressively, winning by three quarters of a length.

As well as his French winners yesterday  Frankel was also responsible for winner Mostahdaf (Kempton), Frankel Star (Gawler, Australia) and Vento Di Passioni (Rome). Of Mostahdaf, trainer John Gosden said: "He is a nice horse and a progressive mile and a quarter horse. He was a little babyish still and he was a little restless in the gate, but we will work on that. He is the type of colt that I see as a mile and a quarter horse, he might be good enough for the Hampton Court at Royal Ascot after one more run. The race worked out perfectly."
