Another Australian Group winner for Frankel

Three-year-old Let'sbefrankbaby added a Gr.3 SA Fillies' Classic win to her record on Morphettville on Saturday to be come her sire's 16th stakes winner in Australia.

Taken from the ANZ Bloodstock News, 21st May 2023:

A day after two of his sons proved the stars of the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale, Frankel demonstrated his sire prowess on the track, as Let'sbefrankbaby became the champion stallion’s 117th individual global stakes winner, and 16th in Australia. The Robbie Griffiths and Mathew de Kock-trained filly won Saturday's Gr.3 SA Fillies' Classic (2500m) when she defeated favourite Moya Lass by a neck. Whakamana finished a length and a quarter further back in third.

Sporting the silks of leading South African nursery Drakenstein Stud, Let’sbefrankbaby scored a fourth win from ten starts since her $400,000 purchase by her trainers, Peter Ford Thoroughbreds and Heywood Bloodstock from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft at the 2021 Inglis Easter yearling sale. The three-year-old is the first foal out of the Irish-bred, Listed-winning mare Baby Pink and she is herself a sister to Listed scorer Traisha.

In targeting Let’sbefrankbaby at the SA Fillies' Classic yesterday, Robbie Griffiths and Mathew de Kock elected to bypass the shorter option of the Australasian Oaks (2000m), a decision that paid off handsomely yesterday. “We earmarked this race after the Oaks in Melbourne [where she finished sixth],” De Kock said. “We gave the other race a miss in a bid to save her energy. She’s an out-and-out stayer. This was the best race for her and we geared her preparation towards it. It looked like we were headed at one stage but she’s a tough filly. Full credit to Jamie Mott as he’s three from three on her.”
