Arabian Light a new stakes winner for Kingman

Godolphin homebred Arabian Light (Kingman) landed a first stakes success on Saturday when he won the Listed James Seymour Stakes at Newmarket.

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 1st November 2026:

This is a race that has been won in the past by the multiple Gr.1 winner Lord North and the Gr.1-winning sire Bay Bridge. Trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by Kieran Shoemark, Arabian Light was slowly away and raced at the rear of the nearside group, as Grey Cuban led this group and Seacruiser held the overall lead. The two groups then merged four furlongs from home, with Seacruiser and Francophone taking up the lead. Arabian Light then raced up the rail to take up the lead in the final furlong and ran on well to win by two lengths. The John and Thady Gosden-trained Nahraan was second, while the Andrew Balding-trained Pacific Mission was a further one and three quarter lengths behind in third.

Now a five-year-old gelding, Arabian Light shed his maiden tag at the second time of asking at the Newmarket July Course in 2024. Lightly raced in the following two years, winning three of his five starts including two Meydan handicaps, he returned from an absence to finish only three and three-quarter lengths behind the multiple Gr.1-winning Ombudsman in the Gr.3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes in May of this year. He was third last time out in the Listed Steventon Stakes in July, three quarters of a length behind Persica.

He is a half-brother to the Gr.3 winner Fortuna Diamond and the Listed winner and Gr.2-placed Sapphire Seas (Frankel), out of the Listed Meydan Classic Stakes winner Pure Diamond.
