Unbeaten Mostahdaf wins the Listed Heron Stakes

Shadwell's homebred son of Frankel, Mostahdaf, extended his unbeaten run with a win in the L. Heron Stakes at Sandown yesterday (20th May).

Taken from the European Bloodstock News, 21st May 2021:

Trained by John and Thady Gosden, the three-year-old son of Frankel won a 7f Newcastle novice on his only start last year and a 1m Kempton conditions race on his return early last month, before stepping up to Stakes company for the first time yesterday. He raced at the rear of the field as Nando Parrado set
a moderate pace to the 1m contest, tracked by Bullace. Angled out to the centre of the track in search of better ground as they passed the three-furlong marker,
Mostahdaf was soon shaken up by Jim Crowley and hit the front along with Bullace. They battled it out for the final two furlongs, but Mostahdaf saw him off in the closing stages to win by half a length. Highland Avenue passed Bullace in the dying strides to take second by the same margin.

A homebred, Mostahdaf is a half-brother to last season’s Gr.1 Falmouth Stakes and Gr.1 Sun Chariot Stakes winner Nazeef, out of the Listed Garnet Stakes winner Handassa.
