2YO stakes success for Oasis Dream

Vertiginous (Oasis Dream) extended to win the L. Rosebery Stakes at Ayr in juvenile course record time on Friday.

Taken from the Thoroughbred Daily News, 18th September 2021:

Very few juveniles who have proven winless in five starts are able to pull off a listed success, but Vertiginous had already shown the requisite ability at a higher level and reverting to five furlongs duly got off the mark in style. Fifth in the Gr.2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot and fourth in the Gr.3 Lowther Stakes at York over a furlong further on 19th August, the bay had stayed at the latter trip for a Haydock novice on 3rd September but was worn down close home by Rishes Baar to leave her maiden status intact.

Forceful from the front again here, she dominated the centre group throughout and from the furlong pole extended that to the rest of the field to come home alone in juvenile course record time.

"She's been consistent all year. We've been running her over six on her last two starts, but she's got so much pace," trainer Brian Meehan said. "She's a lovely filly, very talented and has got a super temperament. She's as cool as anything and takes it
all in her stride. I think there's more to come, perhaps in the [Gr.3] Cornwallis, and we'll look at other options.
